Join us at the Promontory for Paris '53, a journey through time on Sunday, November 5 with a French-inspired brunch followed by an afternoon of joyful jazz by The New Lionel Hampton Big Band featuring Jason Marsalis.
Paris in the 1950s drew American Jazz musicians, Hampton included, who were attracted by a culture embracing adventuresome expression. This immersive Sunday experience is intended to capture the freedom and escape of that scene, and offer a taste of the elegant cuisine and innovative music of that time.
Paris ’53 begins with a flavorful brunch in the restaurant followed by period cocktails, rare jazz spun on vinyl, and a matinee performance by The New Lionel Hampton Big Band at 3pm in our elegant upstairs venue.
Hampton, the legendary vibraphonist, cut his teeth on the South Side of Chicago, which led him to a career playing with Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Quincy Jones, Dizzie Gillespie, and other giants. But it was with his own orchestra in the 1940s and 1950s that Hampton’s genius truly shined, captured sublimely on a series of recordings in Paris during their triumphant 1953 European tour. The virtuoso musicians of The New Lionel Hampton Big Band capture the magic of that era.

Spicy greens, hearth-grilled seasonal vegetables, hearth roasted sturgeon, and classic Nicoise flavors

3rd course - Steamed Mussels
Mussels cooked in a rich tomato broth, presented with whipped herb goat cheese and grilled hearth breads
Paired with French Trappist Beer
4th course - Lamb Brochette
Succulent lamb leg marinated with yogurt, wine, and herbs. Skewered with seasonal vegetables from the hearth
Paired with Vintage Cotes Du Rhone
Rich ginger custard tarts with wine poached pears
Paired with Jurancon dessert wine
Brunch begins at 9am. We recommend brunch seating between 11am and 1:30pm, but you are welcome to choose a reservation anytime between 9am and 2:30pm.
Tickets are $75 and include brunch with reserved seating for the show. Beverage pairings may be added for $25 per person. Tickets are available here.
